Today, we call it Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Before that, troops came home with Vietnam Syndrome.
Three wars earlier, we had Battle Fatigue or Shell Shock.
But in more poetic times, there was the Soldier’s Heart.

Performing Wellness VII is a glimpse into the minds of eight individuals with war-related experiences ranging from Korea, to Vietnam to Desert Storm and the Gulf War. After a four month exploratory writing process, original works of the veterans are paired with professional actors, resulting in an evening of theater that touches the hearts and souls of all involved.

Working with the support of the Portland Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and the Portland Vet Center, we offer these stories to the public believing they will be of immense assistance to all who are living in the world of the returned veteran.

More information on the Performing Wellness process and other Well Arts work with military veterans, such as Performing Wellness IV, After War, Our Lives (in America), is available at The Well Arts Institute website. We are actively seeking financial sponsors and other support for this Performing Wellness production. For information about volunteering or donations, please contact Kate at info @ wellarts.org.
